About Me

So, who is this Luke guy, anyway?
I’m so glad you asked.

I’m a fiction writing geek, daydream adventurer, and Aspiring Street-Sweeper in the Kingdom of Heaven. If you peruse this blog for any length of time, you'll see (hopefully) a drastic improvement in my writing quality. That means there's some embarrassing stuff on here, but I like the idea of you seeing the good with the bad. I struggle to be vulnerable, but the flawed parts of my life contribute to who I am. Also, I'm kind of just too lazy to edit the bad stuff out.

I’ve proofread and copy-edited for various publishing companies, and I’m a freelance writer. I’m also a sadly infrequent blogger.

So, that’s what I do. But who am I?

I was born to a missionary family in Monrovia, Liberia, and mostly raised in Jos, Nigeria. I currently study Professional Writing at Taylor University in the cornfields of Indiana. I have hiked in Ireland and Switzerland (which drove me pallid with fear), roved the ancient streets of York, U.K., and visited more countries than most Americans have States. Also, on my missionary kid travels, I’ve visited most of the States.

So that’s where I’ve been. But who freaking am I?

I’ve published articles, devotionals, short stories, and book reviews. In 2015 I won an Editor’s Choice Award for my eventually-to-be-published fantasy manuscript. In 2016 I won first place in a student creative writing contest.

Come on, Luke. That’s what you’ve accomplished. But there’s more to you than that. So tell me: who really are you?

Thanks for actually caring. I am a child of God. I am a flawed work-in-progress. I struggle with self-confidence, I’m often arrogant, and sometimes I hurt those I care about. I can be mean. But God is making me new. Therefore, I am more than my failures.

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus
--God, Romans 8:1 (I suggest you read the rest of it).

I’d love to hear a little bit about who you are, if you care to contact me. Comment on a blog post, or shoot me an email: faralothshadowslayer@gmail.com (yes, I did make that address in middle school). I can’t promise to respond quickly, but I will try to respond.

Thanks for asking, friend.
Me at 4 AM, gnawing on an enormous rice crispy treat in my dorm room while struggling with homework. That was a painful night.

    1. Hi Daniel,

Thanks for commenting! Can't believe I just saw this. Were you at ELWA with your parents? My memories of Liberia are few but vivid and fond.

If you'd like to connect further, I'm more active on my writerly facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/luke.a.wildman.writer/
